Cook and the House Goblin, The

Sound recording, story; The Cook and the House Goblin, a folk tale and tale of fairies from Ireland, told by Ben Haggarty, in a studio and home recording for a commercial tape Tales of the Little People, made by Ben Haggarty, in London March 1986, for retail purposes.

A story told by Ben Haggarty. A cook is dismissed for allowing a house goblin to eat his master's food. His replacment, the butler, beats the house goblin. The house goblin rewards the cook with a box which gives him whatever he wishes for. When the butler sees this, he cooks the house goblin a feast in order to be rewarded. The house goblin punishes the butler by giving him a goblin which attacks him and his master.
