Introduction by Aude Gotto, followed by an
introduction and story told by Ben Haggarty. A story about Jack
the widow's son, who seeks his fortune following the advice given
by his mother on her death bed: 'do as you would done by'; the
advice of a beggar, and the advice of the devil. This leads Jack
to find a wife. The devil then offers Jack and his wife a flock
of sheep on the understanding that, in a years time, he will
appear at their door and ask them 12 questions which they must
answer in order to keep the sheep and enjoy years of happiness.
The questions take the form of riddles and follow a pattern of
'What is your one?', 'What is your two?' and so on. The riddles
are answered with suggestions from the audience.
