Introduction by Sally Pomme Clayton, followed by story about stupid Jack told by Sally Pomme Clayton. A story of riddles between a henwife and Jack who is seeking 'a pottle of brains' in return for the heart of the thing he loves the best. Jack fails to answer the riddles, but on marrying, his wife is able to answer them for him. The story concludes that the only cure for a fool is to marry a women with her wits about her.
