Introduction by Sally Pomme Clayton, followed by story. Old crow eats an eagle chick and then tricks the mother into a dispute over whether it is the coldest night that has ever been. This takes her on a journey talking to an old blackbird, an old red cow and an old blind salmom, while the crow makes his escape from the nest.
