Serpent of Wisdom, The
an Egyptian Mythology story; Bible story; Midrash story

Sound recording, story; The Serpent of Wisdom, combined myths, creation myths, folk tales, biblical tales and riddling tales, including material from Egyptian mythology, the Bible and Midrash story groups, of Middle Eastern, Arab world, Jewish and Egyptian origin, told by Sally Pomme Clayton in a public performance at Lauderdale House, London, 12th June 1992.

Introduction to the performance, including two short folk tales about saying 'yes' and 'no' with certainty, and about strong women, followed by a performance in two halves by Sally Pomme Clayton. The performance combines the stories of three strong women through versions of Lilith (Jewish, Midrash, Bible); of the Queen of Sheba (Middle Eastern), and of Isis and Osiris (Egyptian mythology).
