Story told by Sally Pomme Clayton. Continuation of a frame story referring to Livingstone's return to England as a celebrated explorer, where he gave lectures and wrote about his work; Livingstone's return to Africa where he became lost; Stanley's journey to Africa to find him, and Livingstone's illness, death and burial, including a traditional tale. A story about Hare who compliments a Baobab tree on its shade and wonders about the contents of its heart. The tree opens, showing riches and jewels. Hare takes a single pair of earings and gives them to his wife. On seeing this, Hyena goes to the tree, but when the tree opens he ties to take everything he can.
