Sound recording, story; an original tale told as part of The Grand Storytelling Festival Celebration, at The First International Storytelling Festival at Battersea Arts Centre, London, 2nd February 1985

A story told by an unidentified storyteller, about a boy named Julius Verd who was abandoned by his mother wearing a pair of beautiful shoes, outside a cake shop in Vienna. He grew up, plump, and with ribs that made his upper body look triangular. He became obesssed with other people's shoes, to the point of serving cakes standing on his hands so that he could see them better. One day his body shape gave a customer, Hitler, an idea for creating the star of David from two triangles.
