A story told by Abbi Patrix accompanying
himself on an African thumb piano. A story about a man who goes
on a journey to find the creator and ask him why he has no luck.
On his journey he meets a starving wolf who can't find food, a
tree who can reach no water and a beautiful, but bored women. He
agrees to take their questions to God along with his own. The man
finds God, who tells him that he must look for his luck, and he
answers the questions of the the women, the tree and the wolf.
The man makes a return journey. He tells the women that she must
marry a man, but refuses to marry her himself as he is too busy;
he tells the tree that gold is buried under its roots, but
refuses to dig it up as he is too busy, and tells the wolf that
he should eat the next thing it sees coming down the path. The
wolf eats the man. The story is followed by comment on the
audience's response to the story.

In 2003, Jillian Barker, Head of Education at the Barbican
Centre, London, approached Ben Haggarty, Artistic Director of the
Crick Crack Club, with a proposal to programme regular
performance storytelling at the Barbican Centre. Since 2003 the
Crick Crack Club has worked in partnership with Barbican
Education to programme 9 events a year in the Barbican Pit
Theatre, for adult audiences. These events are programmed during
the three school half terms each year, with usually three evening
events per half term. The performances of storytelling are
occasionally preceded by pre-show talks. The Pit Theatre is an
award winning black box theatre, which seats approximately 180
people (depending on the seating configuration).
