a Man without a Story story; Stories about Storytelling story

Sound recording, story; Jimmy a wonder tale and transformation tale, from the man without a story and stories about storytelling group, from the Scots traveller tradition told by a pupil, as part of a performance Go Down in Legend, as the finale of a school storytelling project led by Ben Haggarty, in King Alfred's School, in an unidentified location in England, 4th February, 1990.

Completion of the frame story Jimmy told and acted out by two pupils and a pupil in role as the Master of Ceremonies. A story about a man at a harvest feast who can't tell a story and so leaves to pay a foreit. He goes to bale out a boat on the river. As the boat crosses the river the man becomes a women. On the other side of the river the now-women meets, marries and has a family with a man. Then one day the women is passing the river and notices a boat. She goes to bale out the boat. As the boat crosses the river, she becomes a man once again. The man returns to the harvest feast and tells his story, and is rewarded for telling the best story and the best lie.
