Alida Gersie

    Alida Gersie: LCIS Trustee

Alida Gersie was born in the Netherlands. Since her first drama-workshops with disheartened adolescents in Amsterdam in the 1960's, she has worked in supervisory, training and management roles in the areas of psychotherapy, the arts in health, education and community development. Here she has spearheaded many innovative projects. She developed the storymaking approach to facilitate change in complex (often traumatic) situations in the late 1970's. Her techniques and books about this method now underpin change-practices in fields as diverse as sustainable development, palliative care, environmental and health education, psychotherapy, human resource management and bereavement counselling.

Alida has held senior lecturing positions in the Arts Therapies, most recently as Director of Studies of the Graduate Arts Therapies Department at the University of Hertfordshire (1993-2000). She writes and works internationally as a coach, trainer and consultant.
